Upcoming Seminar – Labour Relations Code Amendments

Mike Weiler and Jesse Dunning will present a morning seminar providing an overview of Code, and the key changes introduced this past June. Nonunion and union employers alike will be impacted by these changes.

The program will focus on the changes to the certification process that will make it easier for unions to certify employers including limiting employer free speech. The changes include expediting the certification procedures to limit employers’ ability to influence their employees and properly respond to the application for certification.  Unions have the enhanced ability to obtain remedial certification without a secret ballot vote.

Mike and Jesse will also review the changes to the successorship provisions where employers contract out services and then retender the contracts.  The Code also significantly increases monetary penalties.
