SERVING CLIENTS IN THE FRASER VALLEY SINCE 1973

ABOUT KANE SHANNON WEILER LLP – KSW Lawyers

Kane Shannon Weiler LLP was founded in 1973 and primarily served clients in Surrey and the surrounding areas involved in matters of business law and real estate. Since that time, however, our firm has grown in size and scope to be in a position to represent individual and corporate clients across a wide variety of practice areas.

Today, we maintain office locations in Surrey, South Surrey/White Rock, Abbotsford, Langley and Vancouver, and our lawyers serve clients throughout the Fraser Valley and Lower Mainland. Our firm is well known among the various industries in which we operate for our professionalism, integrity and diligent representation.

We act on the principle of meeting our clients’ expectations by providing regular communication and cost-sensitive legal representation. Our lawyers have extensive experience representing clients in all forms of dispute resolution, including mediation and arbitration, in addition to services in negotiation or litigation.

Tell us about the “mission” of your business as it pertains to your customers and the community organizations that you sponsor and support?

Our mission at KSW Lawyers is to empower people and businesses in our community by educating them on their rights and obligations and tirelessly working with our clients to achieve the outcome that meets their objectives.

  We are local. We live in the communities that we serve. Living and working locally allows us to provide the quality of service of a downtown law firm but at affordable rates for our clients

 We care about our communities and take part in them every day through participation in local events, chambers of commerce, and pro bono activities and societies.

We are no strangers to supporting local sport teams. KSW Lawyers is a proud partner of the Vancouver Giants, and for the past few years, we have also sponsored the Abbotsford Ice Peewee C1 girls hockey team. Further, a few of our lawyers are coaches for the Chilliwack Giants, and the White Rock Titans. One of our team members, Michael Weiler, runs the officiating hockey program at the Arbutus Club that strives for inclusiveness; where teaching young people discipline, judgment and confidence reminds us that we can only be the best we can be when we have mentors and advisors who can help us shape our actions.

Promoting education is a big part of our mission and values. For the past years we have proudly sponsored the MEI Academic Scholarships program and offered scholarships to graduating students to assist with their future education.

Some other professional associations and non-profit organizations we support include the New Car Dealers Association of BC, Chilliwack Fraser Rotary Club, and Chilliwack Hospice Society, SurreyCares Community Foundation, Langley Animal Protection Society, Kidney Foundation of Canada, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, to name a few.

Fort Langley jazz festival

 We are proud sponsors of the Fort Langley Jazz and Arts Festival 2020.

The Fort Langley Jazz & Arts Festival is a multi-day event with a mandate to enrich cultural life by bringing emerging and established jazz acts and visual art together to the beautiful and quaint Village of Fort Langley, British Columbia. Established in 2018, the festival draws thousands of residents and visitors to the streets of Fort Langley during the last weekend in July. The annual summertime festival features multiple outdoor stages featuring free world-class jazz performances, headliner ticketed concerts, strolling street bands, Jazz Around Town performances at local restaurants, interactive art activities, a family zone featuring music and art activities, an Indigenous art and culture showcase, and a Jazz Education Workshop for youth.

The objectives of the festival are to:

  • make live jazz music and the work of local visual artists accessible to local residents, British Columbians and visitors;
  • provide performance venues and opportunities for professional, youth and emerging musicians and visual artists;
  • contribute to the economic diversity of Fort Langley through presentation of quality cultural experiences;
  • enhance Fort Langley’s historic tradition of live music, art and culture

Necessity is the mother of invention, and so the annual Fort Langley Jazz & Arts Festival has found a fun, safe way to return for Summer 2020, virtually — and, in the process, reach more people than ever before!

We’re excited to help promote arts in our communities!
